The position will direct the Sacramento facility in all activities related to plant safety, employee wellness, and administration of benefits. Extensive experience will be required to drive safety improvements, injury reduction, employee well being initiatives, and administering company benefit programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Motivate employees in ways that result in positive health outcomes for employees at the Sacramento facility.
• Ensure that all accidents or injuries are reported immediately. Conduct accident investigations and implement corrective action that would prevent similar injuries from occurring in the future.
• Guide the development and implementation of Health and Safety policies and programs Investigate and maintain records for all work related injuries and/or illnesses provide statistical analysis, and assist department management in the development of effective health and safety counter-measures to continuously improve the safety culture of the plant.
• Promote and exhibit teamwork and leadership skills and actively participate in team activities to ensure that a positive safety culture is instilled at the Sacramento facility.
• Will act as main contact for any work related injuries and will oversee the Worker’s Compensation Program and implement an effective plan for minimizing and reducing worker injuries and associated costs.
• Will provide support for non-work related health and wellness issues, when appropriate.
• Ensure legislative compliance with OSHA, ADA, and serve as a liaison with all employees in an effort to foster a culture where safety is the top priority and that all employees are accountable for the safety of every employee at the plant.
• Directs benefit administration and manage benefits policies/programs. Assist employees with benefit questions and issues.
• Supports new hire on boarding related to benefits content and safety training.
• STOP program trainer and coordinator. Train all new salaried employees in STOP, present refresher training as needed.
SKILLS
• Proven ability to deliver health education and programming to motivate and engage employees.
•Previous experience in Wellness role.
• CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified.
• Computer literate: MS Office required.
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to present information one on one and in group settings, at all levels of the organization, under all circumstances.

• Spends approximately 25 to 50% of time walking and touring manufacturing areas and interacting with employees.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• 4 year degree is preferred, BSN is ideal.

This position will be the primary interface in our relationship with State and Federal OSHA, worker's comp claim management and safety focused industry groups.

Key Responisbilities:
- Assure that each Contract Manufacturing Location (location) becomes and remains certified to an approved food safety standard.
- Audit each location at least once annually to assure compliance to quality requirements and management of specific food safety risks identified for the location.
- Assure that any non-conformances from above audits are resolved in an effective and timely manner.
- Assure that all product release is timely and in compliance with specifications and quality monitoring schemes.
- Manage exceptional release review for any materials which do not fully comply with company requirements. Assure that Operations staff is aware of any inventories which will not be released.
- Manage investigation and resolution of consumer complaints which may result from product manufacturing or distribution defects.
- Work with locations to improve reliability and cost of manufacture. This area may include implementation of statistical controls, process improvement, ingredient/packaging improvement and/or formula optimization.
- Prepare qualification packages for third party certifications with support of Quality Specialist. This includes but is not limited to Organic, Kosher, GMO free, Gluten free, Whole grain. Assure compliance of Contract Manufacturers with these programs and certifications.
- BS in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred, BS with strong related experience and course work may be considered
- Working knowledge of statistics and food microbiology required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in food or beverage quality management
- Minimum of 5 years experience with one or more of these product technologies REQUIRED: high acid thermal processing, low acid thermal processing, aseptic processing, frozen foods, chilled foods
- Strong preference for experience as a Quality Manager at a manufacturing location, ideally multi-plant responsibilities
